Endlessly, She Said

Two seminal albums soon to be released:

AFI - Decemberunderground - Miss Murder.mp3

(Davey Havok / Jade Puget / Adam Carson / Hunter)

Continuing in the vein of 'Sing the Sorrow' (AFI's previous and sixth LP), rather than the earlier punk (Answer That and Stay Fashionable) and hardcore (Black Sails in the Sunset) centred albums.

The Bouncing Souls - The Gold Record - Gold Song.mp3

(Greg Attonito / The Pete / Bryan 'Papillon' Kienlen / Michael McDermott)

The usual good old-fashioned sing-along punk rock!

Dear Tom,

Re: Cicada song

vaco = I am free/empty;
latebrae = hiding-place;
lemures = spirits of the dead.

Vaco - dream of your brother, now free, or perhaps of yourself and your family, at that moment free from pain.

Latebrae - dream of hiding in a copse, trying to dispose of a corpse.

Lemures - dream of "wookies" chasing you.

Were the Latin names deliberately chosen to encapsulate the poignance of the particular dream, or is that my attributing to your work a meaning and association perhaps not deliberated by yourself? A fortunate coincidence if so; you could make a mint posthumously, and subject many an A level student to your unwitting and unworked talent.

Bravo though - there is something akin to endoscopy in reading of others' dreams, and maybe something akin to narcissism in writing them. Beautiful.

I don't recall that they were intentionally allocated to the posts... the reasons were purely aesthetic ostentation, that Latin both looked better and seemed more fitting for an altogether egotistic and somewhat ethereal pursuit.

Saying that, 'Malleus Maleficarum' (what do you make that to be?) was perfectly intentional, for reasons which I can reveal to you, if you wish, dear sister.

Speak soon / x

Malleus maleficarum; literally hammer of evildoings/evildoers (can't quite remember the declensions etc), but I happen to know it is an ancient document, perhaps written by the Catholic church, although don't quote me on that!, about the trial and punishment of witches/"witches"/non-witches, and it is translated "The Witch Hammer". I'll say no more.

I can kind of see how that might be related to your witch-hunt type death-row-ness described in your latest dream record, but some clarification would be enjoyed, if not necessitated.

Sleep sweet and dream well dear brother

It is indeed a reference to the Malleus Maleficarum (Jakob Sprenger and Henrich Kramer - sounds evil already lol), which the Jesuits used in persecuting anyone who wasn't right-wing, Catholic, male or white in the Spanish Inquisition.

The reason, is because one of AFI's best songs is called Malleus Maleficarum, written from the point of view of the accused. Seeing as they tried to kill me, I considered it a fitting tribute.
